Daniel’s Donuts in Springvale is my kinda place. The treats are sweet and there’s a deal when you buy six so you don’t have to feel guilty about eating more than one.
The last time I went out of my way to try a delicious treat it was a cronut. I tried a bit and thought to myself “This cronut is too dry”. I tried a bit more and said out loud “This cronut is not sweet enough”. I tried even more and said “This cronut is just right”. LOL jokes, I never said that. It tasted awful and I threw half of it in the bin.
After that bitter disappointment I vowed to never eat another cronut again… Because cronuts are a fad and doughnuts are the real O.G.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and after looking at numerous Facebook posts and examining their doughnuts in photos we visited Daniels Donuts in Springvale.
Take it to-go-nut
It’s a neat looking place… Not huge but enough space to harbour plenty of delicious treats including their NZ Style Chunky Steak & Cheese Pies. There is no seating inside and a few chairs outside so you’ll most likely want to take your treasures away. We sat out the front because it was a pretty quiet day and the bub had just had a nap PLUS we’d gone to all the effort to get her and the pram out of the car.
Follow them on Facebook
I would highly advise following Daniel’s Donuts on Facebook.
Some women may follow Channing Tatum or Ryan Gosling fan pages but I much prefer having daily shots of delicious doughnuts in my feed.
There are many reasons 1) Doughnuts are easily obtainable 2) Doughnuts don’t care if you’re carrying a little bit of extra weight around the middle (in fact they prefer it as it keeps you coming back for more). Apart from reminding you to go back, you can see all the delicious flavours available and get to know the latest goss.
Choose your timing
I’ve heard that it gets pretty wild around there on like Friday nights. The wild part being that you have to wait to get a doughnut. No, seriously, people queue for these things!
Try something different
So I’m normally the type of person who would pick chocolate over everything. Heard of the dessert Death By Chocolate? Well, yeah, that’s my chosen way to go when it’s time. Shockingly as one of three chosen doughnuts I grabbed a Lemon Meringue one. It was the first doughnut I ate and ohhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyy it was good.
It was like a lemon meringue pie on flavour enhancing, sugary steroids. If (when) I go back I’ll definitely be picking up one of those again.
Bring your vegan friends
Most people have a friend or acquaintance that is vegan. There may be many food choices that you don’t agree on but stress no more. You can now bond over doughnuts. Yes, Daniel’s Donuts has some vegan options too!
All in all I highly recommend taking a visit. Daniel’s Donuts can be found on Facebook and Instagram.
